If you want to come to Hack.Moscow you need Russian visa. The easiest and cheapest one to get is tourist visa. To receive it you need to do a few simple steps.
If you are a citizen of the European Union (except UK and Ireland), Japan, India, or China you can get an invitation letter. Thus you can skip steps 1 and 2 and also get faster visa at lower price. Contact visa@hack.moscow for instructions.
1) Book a hotel — prices in Moscow are really cheap compared to Europe. Check booking.com for example. Then buy tickets (plane, train or whatever).
2) You need to receive a tourist voucher. We recommend alicomm service – our previous participants successfully used it. Recently we've found another cheap service. You can use one of those or choose another one.
3) Also, citizens of most countries need a medical health insurance for Russia. You can get it in most insurance agencies. Check this link – there you can learn more about travel Insurance for Russia and even get one.
4) Finally, follow the instructions from your local Russian visa center (e.g. USA's one). Usually it's better and cheaper to apply for visa at least 4 weeks before the trip.
We also recommend asking if your university support students with taking part in such competitions. As we know, there is such practice in many universities. We hope that you will easily get your visa!
